Stephen ignored the second part of the statement when he read it aloud, but Alesha gasped in horror.

Amanda was in hysterics, but Simon jumped up from his seat in a rage and ranted: “David, you’ve actually crossed the line!

“You really are a smutty little man, aren’t you? Get out!”

David seemed to be pushing ever closer to the line after Simon told viewers on Monday night that David was “un-sackable”.

Simon was not impressed at all by David’s suggestion and gave him a stern telling off, prompting David to make a swift exit.

As the show went to an advert break, viewers could see Simon storm over to David to have a stern word.

Tonight’s instalment of the spin-off show saw Simon and Stephen highlight the previous night’s conversation.

Simon explained that the first thing David did when he saw him today was apologise.

He said: “Do you know what he said to me today? He said, ‘I really, really apologise for what I said last night’.

“It was the first thing he said when I arrived today. I said, ‘I’ve got no idea what you said’. And now he’s showing off again.”

David then reiterated: “I apologised. I apologised because I made a crude joke and I apologise. Not really!”

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Britain’s Got Talent regarding last night’s comments.
