David (played by Jack P Shephard) went through a harrowing rape ordeal and it seems there is no way out for the beloved Coronation Street character.
With Josh (Ryan Clayton) tricking his friend into getting him back to his flat for the crime, there were no witnesses.
However, there could be a saving grace in David’s ordeal, when his father Martin (Sean Wilson) returns later this month.
Although David will hide his ordeal, it won’t take long for his dad to work out something is wrong.
Coronation Street fans believe it will be Martin who will get revenge on Josh when his son struggles to.
One viewer wrote: “Sean Wilson’s character will sort it, for real.”
Will Martin save the day in the end? Or will poor David have more tragedy before the truth outs?
Meanwhile, actor Jack has spoken out following the ordeal, explaining how David copes with what happened to him.
The 30-year-old told Radio Times: “David is a bit confused at first as to where he is, but then as he comes to he sees a photo of Josh and then sees his own clothes neatly folded and a note from Josh saying he has gone for a run and he will catch him later.
“You can see from David’s reaction that the truth of what has happened is dawning on him.
“He leaves the flat and goes home,” Jack explained.
He continued: “This is the crucial part of the story really – he doesn’t want anyone to know what happened.
“He’s ashamed and just wants to try and pretend it didn’t happen.”
Jack went on to say how David is “disgusted and embarrassed” by the rape and doesn’t feel he can share it with Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) or his family.
“This is the point of the storyline,” he insisted. “He should tell someone and not keep it all bottle up inside him.”
Coronation Street continues Monday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
