Jane insisted she was “learning to cope” with the dizzy spells that come after being lifted on the ice.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Jane revealed: “I’ve got a lot of bruises.
“A lot has come from the lifting because you’re landing hard on someone and you’re holding yourself and twisting.
“It’s a lot more physical than you imagine, but also I get quite dizzy and you have to go into like an eight-step.
“I’m like, ‘Ah, the room’s still spinning.’ It’s learning to kind of cope with that which I never really accounted for.”
The Leanne Battersby actress noted: “I’m not a trained dancer so it’s quite difficult.”
Jane went on to reveal the real reason she had signed up to take part in the skating show.
Delighted to finally allow the public to see her for who she is, rather than playing a character, was something that was a major draw.
Jane continued to Express.co.uk: “For me, I’ve been on Coronation Street for such a long time and always been someone else.
“I’ve got two children who are now at an age where they may be a little more independent and I’ve got a little bit more time for me.
“And I’m always telling them to try new things and seize every opportunity that comes up… but don’t actually do it myself.”
The actress also feared that if she turned down the opportunity, she wouldn’t be offered the chance again.
“When this opportunity came up, I thought, ‘They might never ask me again’. I turned 40 a couple of weeks ago so I thought it’s a bit of a marker now,” she explained.
“Let’s do it. Let’s learn something new. I’m like the other ladies. I just feel like it’s an absolute personal challenge.”
Jane went on to gush about her professional Dancing on Ice partner Sylvain Longchambon.
“I’ve always wanted to do it and we’re getting taught by the best,” the Corrie star said.
“We’ve got the best coaches and the best pro partners and they’re so patient and they’ve had this experience in their world and they’re passing it on to us.”
“So you want to do well for them as well. It’s like a personal challenge and I thought I may never be asked again and I’d regret it if I said no.”
