EastEnders‘ Keegan Taylor (Zack Morris) has been struggling to come to terms with being racially targeted over the past few weeks, following number of occasions where he believes being black is holding him back.
But things are only going to get worse for the young entrepreneur as he finds himself hurled into a cell for a crime he didn’t commit.
Fans of the BBC soap have watched as he and his wife Tiffany Butcher (Maisie Smith) have locked horns while he struggles with his anger.
In recent episodes, Keegan was pinned to the floor by police during a scuffle with a thug who stole Tiff’s engagement ring, mistaking him for the attacker.
Following the altercation with law enforcement, he was made to wait longer than other people at the hospital, which only fuelled his rage.
And when he and his business partner Iqra Ahmed (Priya Davdra) went to a meeting to request a loan for their local business, they were turned away leaving Keegan seething and believing it had something to do with the way he looks.
The storyline has become somewhat of a milestone for the soap, as they explore racial animosity with Keegan’s dad Mitch (Roger Griffiths) break the news to his son and young daughter Bailey (Kara-Leah Fernandes) that skin colour still plays a part in how some people view them.
Understandably disgusted with what’s been happening, it suddenly takes a turn for the worst as Keegan is arrested at Vinny Panesar’s (Shiv Jalota) party.
During his interview, he continues to protest his innocence but to his dismay, the evidence is stacked against him.
After he’s released on investigation and arrives home, an inconsolable Tiff has a bombshell of her own to drop.
Does she know who’s to blame for Keegan’s arrest?
Will someone come forward and put an end to what might ruin his life forever?
While one couple is going through hell, elsewhere in Albert Square there might be a new relationship blossoming between two unlikely residents.
Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) has been threatening Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) for some time, ever since she found out what took place between him and deceased Dennis Rickman Jr (Bleu Landau) on the boat.
But it’ll soon come to light that Ian’s son Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), has developed a crush on the troublemaker and will struggle to hide his feelings.
In a huge plot twist, will Dotty fall for her nemesis’ son?
Or will she use him to get to Ian?
EastEnders continues Monday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
