Since Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) removed her wedding band, EastEnders fans have questioned whether she will split with husband Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).
The Queen Vic landlady has been unsure about the father of her four children after he was sent to prison for the attempted murder of Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ), a crime he did not commit.
In Mick’s absence, the pub owner has grown close to Stuart, who shot himself inside her establishment earlier this year and blamed the incident on her partner.
Now, fans of the popular BBC drama series think Linda and Stuart will become an item, leaving Mick in pieces.
Suspicion amongst viewers grew when Stuart turned up at the Albert Square pub to visit Linda and told her he had seen a therapist about the shooting.
“I kept trying to get out of here, but there’s Mick with a gun. I thought I was gonna die, right here,” Stuart told Linda.
“I didn’t recognise him, Linda. What’s happened to the man who you and I love?”
Shortly after, the pair looked at an old family photo, which prompted Stuart to ask: “Do you think you ever really know someone?
“I don’t hate him, you know? I was angry, furious even, but the love, you know? It don’t go away, does it?”
Later, when Stuart returned home after talking about Mick, he sent Linda a text message, which read: “Thanks x.”
Despite initially struggling to include a kiss in her reply to Stuart, Linda eventually added one to the end of her message.
Upon seeing their exchange fans of the show rushed to Twitter to discuss whether Linda and Stuart would become an item.
One person asked: “OMG is Linda gonna get together with Stuart in EastEnders? His face says he probably got her where he wants her.”(sic)
Another cried: “Linda what are you doing no,” while a third added: “Linda is getting me so angry EastEnders.”
A fourth commented: “What was Linda playing at with the ‘x’ at the end of her reply text to Stuart? I think the two of them will become an item!”
Another furious viewer tweeted: “Linda is absolutely disgusting, I hate this vile storyline EastEnders.”
Meanwhile, someone else begged: “Seriously hope this is a Linda bluff to trap Stuart. If that ends up with a kiss I am literally NEVER watching EastEnders ever again.”
Another exclaimed: “There must be some sort of twist coming in EastEnders. There is no way Linda wouldn’t stand by Mick. If the writers tear them apart I would be gutted!”
Will Linda and Stuart get together and crush Mick’s hopes of returning home from prison to a loving wife?
EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 7.30pm.
