A few months ago, evil Craig Reed (Ben Addis) raped Lydia and tormented her for weeks following. When Lydia eventually told her family, the Dingles retaliated and soon enough, Craig had been killed.
The police eventually found he’d been killed by a horse, but Lydia was still furious to find her husband Sam Dingle (James Hooton) had also badly beaten Craig.
In Thursday’s episode, Lydia continued to avoid her family and even said she’d spend Christmas somewhere else. When she bumped into her boss Kim Tate (Claire King) she exploded at her, yelling.
Kim knows Lydia is struggling, so when she broke down in tears Kim comforted her and walked home with her.
Later, Kim made them both a drink and told Lydia: “It’s okay to get angry occasionally – I find it very cathartic.”
“It’s like nobody knows how to be around me anymore, everyone’s tiptoeing around, worried in case they say the wrong thing,” Lydia explained.
“Even Sam’s scared about celebrating Christmas in case it upsets me.”
When talking about her conversations with her counsellor, Lydia went on: “She says that I need to accept what’s happened, and I’m trying – I am it’s just…”
As she cut off and looked away, Kim probed: “What?”
“Well it’s not just about what happened to me is it? It’s about what happened to Craig too. What Sam did.”
Kim decided to tell Lydia the truth and admitted she was there when Craig died.
She explained he’d asked her to take him to hospital after being beaten up and she refused.
He then went for her while she riding her horse, which responded to the threat by knocking him over, and she left him for dead.
Lydia fumed and kicked Kim out of her house, but fans are convinced there is another reason she seems to be hiding something.
Tkaing to X, many predicted she might be pregnant.
@unsworth1live commented: “#Emmerdale is Lydia pregnant with Craig’s baby? There’s something other than her ordeal.”
“Could Lydia be pregnant? #emmerdale,” @BlondeMzungu asked.
@Momrocks50 shared: “Lydia I think is hiding something I hope not what I think it is a baby #Emmerdale.” (sic)
@itzzzo_ added: “Poor Lydia is going to find a way to blame it on Kim, Sam, the writers and anyone but Craig who startled Ice and is the creator of his own demise and karma! #Emmerdale.”
Emmerdale continues on Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
