Emmerdale resident Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) has had a turbulent few months in the Dales after he discovered his wife Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) had been unfaithful to him with mysterious farmhand, Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter). However, he soon discovered Nate was in fact his son and has struggled to deal with the news. However, could the pair end up teaming up after Cain finds himself in danger?
Viewers saw Cain left heartbroken when it emerged his wife Moira had been having an affair behind his back.
Things went from bad to worse when he realised Nate was actually his long lost son.
The pair initially had a rocky relationship, and earlier this year Cain issued his estranged wife with divorce papers after being unable to forgive her.
However, things seemed to soften between Cain and his newfound son as the latter made an effort to try and patch things up with the rest of the Dingle clan.
Things took a sinister turn when Cain became embroiled in a threat to Moira’s farm after his sister Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) made a revelation.
She told Cain the local rustlers who had been targeting farms in the area were tipped to go to Moira’s farm next.
In a bid to save her, Cain, armed with Will Taylor’s (Dean Andrews) gun headed to the farm but accidentally shot Nate in a case of mistaken identity.
Although Nate managed to make a quick recovery, the police have failed to back down after believing him to be involved in the incident.
Asked whether he was happy about the change in the relationship between the pair, he said: “Yeah, I think that was inevitable. For the story to move forward, we have to have this thawing between them.
“The little gun incident recently, where Nate didn’t grass Cain up to the police, was the first step to things beginning to get better between them,” he explained.
Could Nate decide to team up with his dad and hatch a plan to get rid of the nasty policeman for good?
He also teased a reunion between Cain and Moira after admitting where his favourite part of the soap’s set was.
“My favourite place to film in Emmerdale is the exterior of the village, because I think the village is the jewel in the crown for this show.
“The village is the best character in the show, so I enjoy working on Main Street and at the garage.
“But my favourite place to live is on the farm with Moira!”
Will the pair finally manage to put the past behind them and get things back on track once more?
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV
