Jenny Ryan, 38, issued a plea to “be kind” after receiving a disgusting direct message on Twitter from a troll who had insulted her looks and weight. The Chase star admitted she had employed a “long-suffering” administrator to monitor her direct messages to shield her from seeing “the worst of it”, after receiving a series of abusive remarks from online bullies.
In the screenshot posted by Jenny in view of her 91,000 followers, the troll had typed: “You’re a pompous arrogant fat ugly b**ch. You are the worst chaser.”
Not missing a beat, her administrator fired back: “Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Messages to this page are monitored by Jenny’s admin team.
“We can pass on messages or answer questions. Thank you for your message. You seem like a decent chap which obviously gives you the right to body shame and demean women.
“Your loved ones must be really proud of you!” The administrator added sarcastically.
However, the bully did not back down and continued to insult Jenny.
They responded: “I make my parents proud every day thanks. Unlike Jenny’s, they must be repulsed by her smug arrogant behaviour.”
Alongside the screenshot, Jenny shared her upset at the messages, as she urged her followers to consider their words.
She typed: “Your periodic reminder to #BeKind. Bots aside, we’re all human beings behind the keyboard/touchscreen.
“This person even doubles down on the abuse, even after my long-suffering admin points out how rude he is! (She protects me from the worst of it, that’s her job!)” (sic).
After sharing her experience with being trolled and receiving abuse, her fans flooded the comment section with support.
One said: “I just don’t understand why someone would message someone they don’t even know to hurl abuse at them? It just baffles me, why do they feel the need? Why is it so important for them to do it? Don’t they have anything better to do?”
A second replied: “What is wrong with people?! Why would someone say that to somebody? Where’s the love and kindness gone? Social media is a nasty place to be.”
Meanwhile a third commented: “I’m really sorry that you and your admin team have to put up with this, I hope this is something you don’t take personally. I hope you continue to focus on the fans who love you and will continue to support you no matter what, you’re the best.”
Despite the mean remarks, Jenny tried her best to remain positive over the situation, as she also shared a kind message from a follower who praised her intelligence.
The fan said: “Hey Jenny! Nearly 10:30pm here in Perth WA and felt the urge to message you and let you know that you are so bloody beautiful, intelligent, and talented.
“Such a massive inspiration. Keep doing what you doing, you’re making the world a brighter place for it!”
