Starz has released a trailer for Power season six (which will air on Netflix in the UK) that sees Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) seemingly getting ready to kill Ghost (Omari Hardwicke). Joseph Sikora recently revealed in an interview whether he thought Tommy will kill Ghost in Power season six, the final season of the Starz and Netflix series. Tommy tried to kill Ghost in the season five finale, but will season six see him finally be successful in killing his friend-turned nemesis?
Will Tommy kill Ghost in Power season 6?
WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Power season 5
The trailer for Power season six suggests that season six might finally be the year when Tommy kills Ghost.
In the promo, Tommy says to Ghost’s son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr): “How would you feel if something really bad happens to him.”
Although he does not outright say that he will kill Ghost, this seems like a heavy hint that Tommy has “something really bad” planned for Ghost.
This seems especially true as Tariq answers: “To be honest, I don’t know,” which could be read as a go-ahead by Tommy.
This comes after the events of the Power season five finale, which saw Tommy take a shot at Ghost after finding out that he had manipulated him into killing his own father Tony Teresi (William Sadler).
Luckily for Ghost, however, Angela (Lela Loren) stood in front of the bullet, potentially saving Tommy’s life.
However, in an interview with TV Line in May, Tommy actor Joseph Sikora doubts whether Tommy will ever be able to kill his one time friend.
He said: “That thing that we know about Tommy is he can’t kill Ghost.
“It’s like the Harry Potter thing. I mean, Ghost is part of the horcrux of Tommy. Part of Tommy lives in Ghost, you know?”
He added that he tried to express this in the scene at the end of Power season five: “What I tried to do in the reaction — it really wasn’t totally captured on camera — was the pressure, the revenge, but also the hesitation of killing Ghost.”
When asked what led his character to take a shot at Ghost, he said: “Tommy’s like this street referee.
“If you break the rules of the street, Tommy will make you pay for them.
“He’s made an allegiance toward that lifestyle, and he’s fully in, so in some ways Tommy was just like this is a tit for tat, Ghost has just got to go.”
However, Power showrunner Courtney Kemp has previously teased that a number of main characters could die in the final series of Power, so it is possible that Tommy could try to kill Ghost again, only to kill himself in the process somehow.
We will find out whether Tommy has what it takes to kill Ghost (or vice versa) when Power season six returns to Starz and Netflix.
Power season 6 starts August 25 on Starz and August 26 on Netflix
