Queen of the South season 5: Eddie ‘exposed’ as DEA agent | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The fifth season of hit crime series Queen of the South will finally return to Teresa Mendoza (played by Alice Braga) and her new life in New Orleans. When the hit USA Network series finally returns, with episodes eventually coming to Netflix, Teresa’s break-up with Eddie Brucks (Bailey Chase) could have disastrous consequences for her business.

Fans have speculated the DEA or CIA could go through Teresa Mendoza’s ex-boyfriend Eddie Brucks in their ongoing effort to take down New Orleans’ new queenpin.

Season five of the gripping crime series was put on hold after the outbreak of coronavirus, but production was able to resume late last year.

When the series finally returns later this year, Teresa’s old flame could return as a new enemy if some convincing fan theories are to be believed.

During the excruciating wait for new episodes, viewers have taken to Reddit to discuss their growing list of theories for the upcoming instalment.

Among them was the surprising return of Eddie, a struggling musician who briefly dated Teresa before she was comatosed by a devastating attack from Judge Lafayette (David Andrews).

Redditor PrivateSpeaker proposed: “There is a plausible theory floating around that Eddie works for the DEA or CIA.

“I’m thinking that he didn’t work for them when he and Teresa were dating, but that he was approached by some agents after their break up.”

While Eddie isn’t likely to have been an undercover agent from the get-go, he may try to enter Teresa’s life again to unearth more information about her drug operations in season five.

“You will pay the visit once she is out, so that you can have a private chat and confront her about what she does for a living.”

The theory proposes Eddie initially tried to sever all ties with Teresa to get over the break-up, hence why he failed to turn up to the ICU.

However, his sudden return at the end of season four could suggest he had been contacted by an agent investigating Teresa’s drug business as part of a new tactic to take her down.

Teresa will be looking over her shoulder constantly in the next outing, as the arrival of James Valdez (Peter Gadiot) also signalled the potential return of some old enemies in season five.

Now it seems the drug mogul could be threatened on all sides, if she does indeed invite Eddie back into her life after their conversation in the season finale.

However, fans have also suggested the inexperienced Eddie will be in over his head if he tries to take down Teresa from the inside.

With Pote (Hemky Madera) and now James both at her side in season five, Eddie could meet an unfortunate end if he manages to get too close to the truth.

Queen of the South season 4 is available to stream on Netflix.
