At the end of the show a tribute to the actor, who played Fred Andrews in the CW series, was shown.
A credit appeared on screen bearing the words: “In memoriam Luke Perry 1966 – 2019.”
Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa previously promised to remember the Beverly Hills 90210 star.
He shared a picture of Perry smiling as he stood beside his Riverdale co-stars on his Instagram account.
A touching tribute accompanied the image, which read: “Luke in the middle. Our heart, always.
“Tonight’s episode of Riverdale finds Fred doing what he does best – helping Archie.
“It is dedicated to Luke, as all episodes will be for the rest of our run.”
