Saturday Night Takeaway fans have faced uncertainty over the show following Ant’s drink-drive charge last month and his subsequent return to treatment at a rehabilitation facility.
The show was cancelled for one episode but then after careful discussion, Dec and ITV decided that he would host the remaining two episodes of the entertainment programme alone.
The 42-year-old star has been gearing up for the show at Universal Studios all week, while his co-presenter Scarlett Moffatt joined him to share some behind-the-scenes action on the show’s social media.
Now Dec has shared a snap of himself alongside some enormous props for the final instalment.
Fans will notice that both of the towering signs still feature Ant’s name in the show’s logo reading Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Displaying a beaming grin, Dec appeared thrilled to still be hosting the end of the series, which will see hundreds of deserving viewers whisked across to the event.
Dec posted the image next to a simple caption which is sure to whet people’s appetites ahead of tonight’s show-stopping finale.
“#SaturdayNightTakeaway show day! D x,” it read.
Thrilled for their favourite host, fans gave the star plenty of encouragement to go out and host alone for the second week in a row.
“Can’t wait to see you smash it again Dec!” one person said.
Another wrote: “That smile is what we want to see!!”
“Good luck Dec (not that you need it, you’re a true pro and the whole country is behind you!)” a third praised.
Continuing to build excitement, Dec also filmed himself, Scarlett and fellow presenter Stephen Mulhern sharing some laughs in the resort for the show’s Instagram story.
Holding up a selfie stick, he said: “We’ve made it! We’re here in Universal Orlando resort.”
Unable to contain himself, Dec then burst into fits of giggles when Scarlett said her favourite part of the trip was “all of it”.
When Stephen declared that his favourite part was working with Dec, the lead star jokingly called him “creepy”.
Not one to shy away from the truth, Dec told his and Ant’s millions of Twitter followers that he’d been nervous ahead of last week’s show.
With Britain’s Got Talent hot on the heels of Takeaway, a source at The Sun then reportedly revealed that Dec might end up going it alone.
“The bosses at ITV loved him,” the insider said. “And want him back on screens as soon as possible. Simon Cowell totally agrees that he’s the best man for the job rather than bringing in a new face.
“It was obviously strange for viewers seeing him alone at first, but he took everything in his stride like a total pro.
“That’s not to say people didn’t miss Ant, but the overwhelming response was that Dec was fantastic solo too,” they added.
Saturday Night Takeaway concludes tonight at 7pm on ITV.
