Anne Hegerty: The Chase star addresses Bradley Walsh QUITTING claim | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

The Chaser, 60, regularly engaged with The Chase fans on social media and, at the seeking, used Twitter to put a rumour about host Bradley Walsh, 58, to rest. “Thought Bradley was quitting The Chase,” one viewer wrote. “More money threw at him I suspect.” Responding to the claim in view of her 121,000 followers, Anne Hegerty said: “I’d ask where you got that idea from, but I assume you wouldn’t answer me.”

Contrary to Anne’s expectations, The Chase fan soon replied.

“Apologies, I thought I saw something on a news feed a while back that he was leaving,” they said. “Plus he got that Doctor Who job.

“P.S. Well done in the jungle, you done well!”(sic) they added.

Clarifying Bradley’s situation with The Chase, Anne wrote back: “There’s never been any suggestion that Brad was leaving.

“We all have other jobs on the side. Thanks for the kind words.”

Fans took to the comments section to share their relief that Bradley was staying put on the long-running ITV quiz show.

“Good – because I NEED my Bradley and Anne fix,” one said, while another agreed: “So do I!”

Bradley has hosted The Chase since it first aired in 2009 and has been at the helm for over 360 episodes.

He also presents The Family Chase and The Celebrity Chase.

Anne, meanwhile, has appeared on The Chase since its second series in 2010.

She is best known as the formidable Governess on the show, pitting her quizzing wits against teams of four contestants in order to try to prevent them from taking home the prize fund.

Earlier this week, she responded after one fan thought they spotted her celebrating Newcastle’s win against Leicester City on Friday.

The Twitter user shared a picture of fans celebrating in the stands, with one having taken their shirt off in a joyful frenzy.

Joking the footie fan resembled Anne, the social media user wrote: “Anne Hegerty just doesn’t give a f**k, fair play.”

Taking the tweet in good humour, Anne quipped: “I would just like to confirm that this is NOT me.”

“I can’t unsee this,” another fan commented, to which she replied: “YOU can’t unsee it? How do you think I feel?”

The Chase continues tonight at 5pm on ITV.
