Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and M&S recall food products due to Hepatitis and allergy fears

A food recall is issued when there is a problem with a product. Whether it has undeclared ingredients or contains foreign objects, the item’s brand or supermarket where it is sold will usually withdraw it from shelves and ask customers to return it to their local store.

It added: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”

The packages are 170g in size and all best before dates are affected.

The FSA advised customers to not eat the product and to “return it to the store from where it is was bought for a full refund”.

Asda has also issued a customer notice recommending shoppers what to do if they have bought the pie.

It stated: “If you have purchased Asda Frozen Vegan Mushroom and Leek Pie (170g), please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt.”

As for Morrisons, the supermarket is recalling its packs of six Nutella Ferrero B-ready because they contain barley, wheat, milk, hazelnuts, and soya, but these ingredients are not listed in English on the label.

The FSA said: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley, and/or wheat (gluten), and/or milk or milk constituents, and/or an allergy to nuts, and/or soya.

“All packs bought from Morrisons with label information in Polish are affected.”

The chocolate packs are 132g in size and all best before dates are affected.

Once again, customers should return the product to their nearest store in exchange for a full refund, and no receipt is required.

Lastly, Marks and Spencer also issued a food recall on one of its products yesterday.

The food retailer has asked customers to return its Stuffed Medjool Date Selection to their local store because the dates may be contaminated with Hepatitis A.

Symptoms caused by Hepatitis A usually include fever, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, dark-coloured urine and jaundice.

The product affected is 350g in size and has a best before date of July 13, 2021.

M&S said: “Any customers in possession of this product can return it to their nearest store where a full refund will be given.”
