Faith (played by Sally Dexter) has been absent from the drama in Emmerdale for well over a year now but in Thursday’s edition of the ITV soap, the Dingle matriarch will make her triumphant return. Her main aim will be to resurrect her relationship with son Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who she hasn’t seen since he discovered Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was his secret long-lost son in 2019. However, with tensions flaring upon her reappearance in the village, Faith plans an exit but it could be Zak (Steve Halliwell) who leads her to stay put as the pair begin an affair.
A possible romance is teased next week when the Dingle family are torn over whether the matriarch should be allowed to stay.
Cain is furious his wife Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) wants Faith to stick around and this creates animosity between the couple.
Worried her own marriage could be on the brink of destruction, the farmer tells Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) she thinks she should reconsider her vote to allow the troublesome character to stay.
Overhearing the problems she is causing for her loved ones, Faith begins to wonder if they would be better off without her.
Needing to resolve the issues emerging with the clan, Zak summons Cain around to Wishing Well Cottage and gives him some home truths.
Seemingly holding a torch for Faith, Zak tells his son it’s his belief that his mother doesn’t love him is an issue he has carried around with him his whole entire life.
The elder of the Dingle clan says if Cain can resolve this matter for himself, then maybe he can accept the troublesome character back into his life.
It seems the patriarch wants his former lover to stay in the village but will the pair reignite a romance they’ve buried for years?
They’ve had brief dalliances in the past, with an affair between them leading to the birth of the village bad boy when Faith was married to Shadrach Dingle (Andy Devine).
Viewers will have to wait and see if Cain can stop his mother from leaving the village instead of making an exit.
If he does convince her to stay, the village bad boy could finally see both his birth parents reunite and give their romance a worthwhile shot.
The actress who plays Faith, Sally, has recently spoken out about her alter-ego’s return to the drama and what’s in store.
“It’s wonderful to be back in Emmerdale again. From the first day, I felt like I was getting a big warm family hug from everyone. It’s a really special show,” the soap star explained.
Producer Sophie Roper teased: “I’m delighted to see the return of much-loved character Faith Dingle to the village.
“A character bursting with fun, Faith’s certainly set to ruffle a few feathers and will test the Dingles’ loyalties like never before.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Sally back to Emmerdale, an actor exuding vibrant charm,” she continued.
If given the chance to stay in the village, will Faith let herself commit to a romance with Zak and put her troubled past behind her?
