Strictly Come Dancing 2019 Michelle Visage to win due to Giovanni Pernice’s past on show? | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Michelle, 51, and Giovanni, 29, have won over the hearts of the nation and the Strictly Come Dancing judges with their stellar performances. Despite being top scorers, it could be down to the Italian professional dancer’s past on the BBC show which gives them their ticket to the final.

Tonight, the remaining celebrity contestants will take to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom to dazzle audiences with some theatrical performances.

The beloved couple are going to be performing a Street Commercial to Madonna’s Vogue and will be hoping to avoid the dreaded dance off.

Last weekend, Michelle and Giovanni managed to scrape through after the judges decided to send home BBC Breakfast’s Mike Bushell, 53.

Even if the pair do find themselves in the bottom two again, a moment from last night’s edition of Strictly: It Takes Two revealed how they could make it to the final.

Michelle and Giovanni were joined by Gethin Jones, 41, in view of the Blackpool dance floor where the presenter detailed the evidence.

“Gio, everytime you’ve made it to Blackpool, you’ve been in the final.

“This is a good omen,” the former contestant stated, to which the Drag Race star joked: “No pressure yet then.”

The Italian professional said: “I think it’s very, very special to be here.”

Giovanni continued: “It’s very important for our celebrity to achieve getting to Blackpool.”

However, he added: “It’s a special place and I don’t want to think about the final. I just want to think about our dance which is something very special.”

Last year, the professional dancer made it to the final with former Pussycat Dolls Faye Tozer, 44, but they lost out to Stacey Dooley, 32, and Kevin Clifton, 37.

Back in 2017, he made it to the last round of the competition with Debbie McGee, 61, but they were beaten by Joe McFadden, 44.

During his first year as a professional on the show, Giovanni also lost out on the crown when former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote, 28, began the trend over his celebrity partners getting a spot in the final after Blackpool.

Will Michelle be his first partnership which sees him go all the way and win the Glitterball Trophy?

Latest odds have knocked the Drag Rage judge out the favoured spot as her chances of winning match those of three other contestants.

According to Coral bookmakers, Michelle stands at 16-1 to become champion alongside Alex Scott, 35, Emma Barton, 42, and Saffron Barker, 19.

Leading the way are former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, 35, and Karim Zeroual, 25, as the contest becomes a two horse race.

The soap star is the current favourite at 4-7 and the CBBC presenter is at 3-1 to land victory in under a month’s time.

Coral spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead said: “It’s a two dancer race at the moment for the Glitterball Trophy, but it is definitely Kelvin who is the hot favourite from him and Karim. He’s well on course for victory at the moment.”

Will tonight’s Blackpool show shake things up?
