Jessica Simmonds, 30, was “depressed” about being overweight and it affected her day to day.
Working in retail, she was too tired to exercise after being on her feet all day.
However, at 12 stone and a size 16, Jessica was overweight and had high blood pressure.
She would go out to eat at least twice a week at Italian restaurants, where she ate pizza and pasta dishes.
One of her most fattening habits was drinking a whole bottle of wine a night – around 600 calories.
“I was very unhappy and had no confidence before I lost the weight, I felt sad and not like me,” she said.
“I felt depressed, had low self-esteem, my weight gain really affected my day to day life.”
However, she decided to make a change and started the SlimFast diet to help her lose weight.
“I stuck to a routine and found the plan very simple, easy to do and stick to.”
“My typical day would be a strawberry shake for breakfast, a chocolate Crunch Meal Replacement Bar for lunch and then a 600-calorie meal for dinner.”
Rather than drinking a whole bottle of wine a night, Jessica drinks two glasses– at around 125 calories each – twice a week.
Through doing this, she managed to lose two stone and nine pounds, which lowered her blood pressure and improved her confidence.
“As weeks were going, my confidence was getting better. I’m definitely more into socialising , dating and going out with friends more.
“I felt being overweight held me back from enjoying my life.”
Recently, a woman who lost nearly six stone after letting her weight balloon has revealed how she did it, and shared her before and after transformation pictures.
Charlotte Mears, 27, from Buckinghamshire, had always been slim and was a regular at the gym.
But, as her social life expanded in her early twenties, so did her waistline as she skipped the gym in favour of restaurant dinners or takeaways with friends.
By 24, she had ballooned to a size 18, and weighed in at 14st 12lb, which on her 5ft6in frame put her Body Mass Index at 33.5 – classified as obese by the NHS, which considers between 18.5 and 24.9 to be healthy.
Fed up with feeling “sluggish and uncomfortable,” Charlotte vowed to change, slimming down to 9st 1lb and now wearing a size eight.
