UNBELIEVABLE Stream on Netflix. This limited series, based on a real case, follows the story of Marie (Kaitlyn Dever), a young woman in Washington State who reports that she has been sexually assaulted by a home intruder, only to recant later after detectives investigate and believe that she made up the events. Years later, two female detectives (played by Toni Collette and Merritt Wever) from different police departments near Denver, Colo., team up when reports of two rapes in their jurisdictions point to a similar attacker. Their pursuit of an assailant unexpectedly leads them back to Washington, where Marie, who’s been branded a liar, has lost faith in her own memory. Like other female-focused dramas like “The Sinner,” “The Tale” and “Share,” the series explores the ways in which memory and credibility are sometimes called into question in cases involving sexual assault and trauma.
